Manchester Unity Victoria records
The Manchester Unity records held at the Noel Butlin Archives Centre at the Australian National University in Canberra are extensive. They cover around one hundred and fifty years of friendly society activity. The most common series are minutes, membership registration books, contribution books, cashbooks, clearance certificates, sick certificates and declarations of age, health and conformity. In many cases the records cover many decades and for some branches the minutes extend over one hundred years.
The Noel Butlin Archives Centre has substantial holdings of MU Victoria publications, such as The M.U. Oddfellow Magazine, annual, half-yearly and quarterly meeting proceedings, rules, laws and by-laws. There are also Manchester Unity publications from other states, New Zealand and Great Britain. In addition to the textual records listed in this guide and the publications, there are some photographs, dispensations and presentation certificates.
The Australian Unity Library in Melbourne also holds The M.U. Oddfellow Magazine.
