Australian Unity's new retirement village made ground breaking progress when it kicked off commencement of construction with a turning of the sod last month. (Friday 23 April)

Peninsula Grange, a $150 million project located in Mornington, is set on 17 hectares and will eventually comprise approximately 280 independent living units.

Speaking at the event Group Executive of Australian Unity Retirement Living Derek McMillan said environmentally sustainable design and open space are key elements of the project.

“The five star energy rated development, will be one of Australian Unity’s largest retirement living community with open space a key element of the design.

He said the design and village facilities are extremely important in creating the perfect environment for residents to come home to and enhance their general wellbeing.

“Maintaining a high quality of life is something each of us should aspire to and these days retirement village living is a way retirees can improve their satisfaction with life,” Mr McMillan said.

“Staff at our retirement villages focus on wellbeing and are encouraged to address the needs of our residents to enhance their overall sense of personal wellbeing.”

He said units in the new village have already started to sell: “With every amenity needed on your doorstep, this secure community is the perfect place to spend your retirement years while maintaining independence and enjoying the many activities on offer.”

Other key features will include; a community centre with an indoor heated lap pool, gym, a day spa and beauty therapy rooms, a library, craft room and workshop. Other private facilities within the community include a practice bowling green, putting green, bocce area and outdoor barbeque areas.
