Australian Unity’s financial services operations include a boutique funds manager, a financial planning network and in-house teams of finance and life insurance brokers. Australian Unity’s funds management business uses its established in-house expertise in property and mortgages while developing joint ventures to broaden its product suite. With the Lifeplan merger, Australian Unity’s total funds under management stood at $7.6 billion at 31 August 2009. By the end of October total funds under management had risen to approximately $10 billion.
Australian Unity commenced financial planning operations in 2002 and added mortgage broking in 2006. We have 59 financial advisers and 10 brokers operating in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and regional Victoria. The business currently has more than $470 million in funds under advice.

Australian Unity’s retirement living business is a major provider of accommodation and related services to retirees. We operate 15 retirement villages and four aged care facilities across New South Wales and Victoria, with 1,732 independent living units, 451 aged care beds and 99 ambulatory and community care places. The business strives to create neighbourhoods offering an enhanced quality of life and a genuine sense of community among residents.

The HR team's vision is to pro-actively and professionally act in partnership with their customers to enhance their people management capacity. HR Services include: HR Consulting, Training & Development, Payroll, Occupational Health & Safety, Reward & Recognition, Industrial Relations, Organisational Development, Employee Support, Internal Communications, Change Management.
Corporate Development are responsible for managing the Group's brand and corporate reputation; the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation’s marketing services, initiation, support and analysis of strategic growth opportunities and the co-ordination of the Group's strategic planning program.
The Group Audit function operates in order to assist management achieve the Group's objectives in accordance with its Policies and Procedures, Business Plans, Rules, and Legislative and Regulatory requirements.
The Finance department develops and maintains a close monitoring and control of operating costs and revenue by the prompt preparation of monthly management financial reports and year end statutory accounts; managing systems which ensure accurate allocation of returns, and establishing formal accounting procedures to ensure correctness and accuracy required by legislation.
Group Governance Services exists to contribute to Group effectiveness by:
- Providing quality legal support
- Leading and coordinating quality compliance and risk management capabilities (including insurance program) and associated training functions
- Leading and coordinating business continuity / disaster recovery
- Facilitating good governance practice and assisting to advance the Group's reputation and interests
- Supporting significant Group projects via the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) and providing Legal, Risk and Compliance support to projects
- Providing Company Secretarial functions.
