Overview

Australian Unity has had a high level of involvement in public policy throughout its history. For example, in the nineteenth century, the Australian Natives’ Association (one of our antecedent organisations) actively campaigned to support free primary school education, and advocated for Australia to become a Federation.

Australian Unity is an established thought leader in areas such as wellbeing where the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index has built a solid reputation as a credible tool that benefits policymakers, creates awareness of social issues and strengthens our brand.

We have also advocated on our members behalf on issues such as the Federal Government’s proposed means testing of the private health insurance rebate and written various submissions to the government and peak bodies to promote the interests of our members.
